Many factors played a role in my journey from conservationist to owning my own whiskey brand but I thought I'd shared this month on Bourbon and Books with New Dawn distilling, a book I consider a catalyst on the road to New Dawn, The Measure.

This book explores how people from all walks of life deal with suddenly knowing or having the opportunity to know how long they are going to live. I recommend an Old Fashioned, with New Dawn’s 10-year of course, while reading this book because if you're going to be up all night you'll want a slow sipper.

Thought-provoking, heartbreaking, and uplifting, Expect to become invested in these eight, highly relatable characters as they move forward with the remainder of their lives shaped by the knowledge of their longevity. Also don't be surprised when you find yourself, like I did, evaluating your own life and how you'd choose happiness if tomorrow wasn't guaranteed.
