Bourbon Summer Fruit Smash

(rocks or frozen)

For when it’s hotter than a witches tit! Don’t really know what that means but it’s something Dawn and Dionne’s mom used to say every summer. And since the temperatures can be scorching here in New Orleans, we present a summer cocktail that takes advantage of summer’s greatest bounty. This summery sip can be done on the rocks or frozen, with basil or mint. Just pick your summer fruit from the produce or frozen food isle and have at it!

Bourbon Summer Fruit Smash Recipe

2 ounces of New Dawn bourbon

1/3 cup of summer fruit*

1/2 oz honey

5 leaves basil or mint plus extra for garnish

On the Rocks: Combine ingredients in a shaker and muddle the ingredients together. Add ice and shake till cold. Strain into a rocks glass over ice.

Frozen: Recommended especially if you are using frozen fruit! Combine ingredients in a blender with a few cubes of ice. Blend till smooth and pour into your glass of choice.

Garnish with basil or mint leaves.
