Bourbon & Books: A Solitude of Wolverines
Some people do beach reads, over here we're doing cozy fireside thrillers featuring your average day in the life of a field ecologist. Up this month on Bourbon and Books with New Dawn Distilling, A Solitude of Wolverines by Alice Henderson.
A series starter featuring a bad-ass wildlife biologist out to save the world (seriously her second calling could be a spy). We find our heroine, Alex, on a conservation preserve in the backwoods of Montana beginning a population study on wolverines when she is run off the road and threatened by locals determined to force her off the land.
Dismissed by local law enforcement but dedicated to helping save the threatened wolverine she continues her study, on foot and using cameras set up across the the preserve.
But as any good field biologist knows, sometimes you see more than just your study species and in this case Alex discovers too late she has seen too much and now its not just the wolverines' but her life on the line.
Pairing this modern take on Captain Planet come to life with, what else, a Spicy Ecologist because you'll need a drink that keeps up with the suspense and the cold temps.
