One Palate to Rule Them All?

Picture me at a chill wine tasting, swirling natural wines and chatting about Robert Parker's rating system. So, if a wine scores 90 points, it's good, right? But wait! Ever wondered what those numbers really mean? Turns out it's one dude's taste buds and his thumbs-up dictating the flavor vibe for all wine drinkers. Mind blown, right? Especially, when you look at the diversity or lack of diversity in the wine and spirits industry. Nothing against their palates, I have been happily drinking big bold reds for decades but what have we been missing out on?!?!

Which brings me to choosing bourbons and whiskeys. Full disclosure, I would love to foist this task on my opinionated Kentucky bred dog, Ruby, who has no hesitation in making decisions for others, but her pallet needs some refining. So, it has fallen to me as owner and founder to taste eleven bourbons and six ryes to find out what fits the flavor profile, or as I like to call it the vibe, of New Dawn Distilling. This being a black woman owned brand we will not be following in the (exact) footsteps of our forefathers. No old-school vibes here!
