Whiskey Cobbler
Got fruit? Here’s a classic cocktail to use up your seasonal bounty. The Whiskey Cobbler is a refreshing sipper that takes advantage of seasonal fruit bounties. This version is a mash up of two pre-prohibition era recipes, as just like in modern times every bartender likes to put their spin on a drink. The New Dawn spin is the addition of mostarda di frutta a Northern Italian condiment of candied fruit and mustard-flavored syrup that I fell in love with when I visited last year. Of course you can use any fruit you have on hand the traditional choice being oranges and cherries.
Whiskey Cobbler Recipe & Instructions
2 oz New Dawn bourbon
barspoon Luxardo Liqueur
barspoon simple syrup
seasonal fruits*
2 oz club soda
Combine bourbon, Luxardo, simple syrup, and fruits in a shaker or directly in your glass with ice. Shake or stir till chilled, strain into glass and top with club soda and more fruit.
*I used Mostarda, a Northern Italian condiment made with fruits in a mustard-flavored syrup. It's a little sweet, a little spicy, and a little savory.
